I CAN'T WAIT
Words and Music by Phil Morgan
Our preacher told a story about heaven so sweet,
It brought a tear to my eye.
He talked about the mansions and the golden streets,
That we're gonna see when we die.
He said that we can join in with that angel band,
singing unending praise.
I got so excited, that I jumped to my feet,
And everyone around heard me say...
CHORUS
I can't wait 'til heaven to be happy,
Now seems like the perfect time to praise the Lord.
There's no time to waste, I wish I'd started yesterday,
Cause I've got so much I want to thank Him for.
Ever since I felt His touch of blessing,
There's overflowing joy down in my soul.
Heaven is my goal, but while I'm here below,
I'll have to praise His name, I can't wait.
I see a lot of Christians just looking so sad,
Their chins are dragging the ground.
They know the Lord is good, but their times are bad,
And day to day life's got them down.
Now don't misunderstand me, cause I'm not blind
To the problems here below,
When I get discouraged I just pray to the Lord,
And think about my heavenly home.
CHORUS
The devil comes to me and tries to steal my joy away,
The Bible tells me that the battle's been won, and the victory is mine to claim.
CHORUS
My name is on the roll, but while I'm here below,
I'll have to praise His name, I can't wait.
